This painting represents embarking on new beginnings. A look into the subconscious, conscious and choice. The raw under layers are visible in certain areas, leaving the idea of our learned behaviors, while being covered by our chosen behaviors. New beginnings is an interpretation of who we are and who we choose to be. I wanted to leave signs of the under laying "past", to show case the idea of everyday we have a choice to be who we want to be. Reaching for our optimal self. If you decide to put in the work, layer by layer you can teach yourself new behaviors. :)
"New Beginnings" Original Abstract Acrylic Painting on 2' x 3' canvas. Heavy Professional Grade Acrylics.
This painting took me awhile to figure out where it was going. I first had a rainbow of colors underneath and it just didn't feel quite right. Funny enough, my husband loved it and wanted to hang it the way it was. So I let it sit hanging in my studio for a week, and every time I walked past it, I stopped and just stared at it for a few minutes. My pieces are a part of me and they need to feel like they express the right expression. Finally, an ah-hah moment, it came to me and I spent the day painting away. The spiraling style inspired my idea of the consciousness, and I kept thinking of the cartoon Bobby's World. You know the intro where hes riding down a hallway on his tricycle through his imagination. What can I say, 90's kid. hahah. :))
